History

The minutes recorded for the Church meeting held on November 14, 1928, indicate that recommendations for “young male converts be set aside as an Usher Board and that Riley Brown be appointed as president” of that Board was approved. At one point in the history of the “Usher Board” its membership included both male and female members, and was subsequently separated into the Male Usher Board and the Ladies Auxiliary.  While not specifically confirmed the minutes of the Church meeting held on June 13, 1939, show that presidents were appointed to these two ministries. This support the early establishment of the Male Usher Board and the Ladies Auxiliary.

Mr. Georg Dixon served as President of the Male Usher Board from 1970 until 1988, Mr. Isaac Andrews became President in 1988 and has currently been succeeded by Mr. Roland Kennedy.  One of the functions of the Male Usher ministry is to help the officers keep our worship experience secure and safe every Sunday morning.  They continue to serve faithfully and support Pastor Barnes by accompanying him when he ministers at other churches and to support the church’s financial obligations the ministry hold an annual Bar-B-Que fundraiser each year in the month of October.

All men are welcomed to come and join. Please see Trustee Roland Kennedy for more information.
