  History

The former Girls Scout troops instituted under Rev. Alpheus L. Bright leadership consisted of the following members, Mrs. Alma Clemmons, Mrs. Charlotte Bolden and Mrs. Yvonne Price.  The ministry thrived for many years by molding and shaping the lives of young girls 2 to 12 years of age in theBethanychurch and community.  After the disbanding of the former troops the Girl Scout Ministry was revived and reinstituted in September 2010 under Rev. Dr. Myron D. Barnes, Sr. The current leaders of the  Ministry are Mrs. Tracey Nelson and Ms. Dana Ester. With their zeal to make a difference in the lives of as many young girls as possible and a tremendous outreach effort 75 girls were registered scouts with theBethanyMissionaryBaptistChurchwithin a short period of time.  The Ministry’s current membership consists of 101 girl scouts and continues to grow.
